Denver Therapist near you, mental health counseling resources, now accepting new clients in Colorado.
  • Hey there, this is Chris Howard, LPCC, NCC, and founder of Base Camp Therapy, in Denver, CO. I use a unique therapeutic approach with a diverse range of adults and adolescents, offering counseling that is both restorative and transformative, creating more resilience, increased self-compassion, and greater curiosity about what can happen next.

I emphasize a safe therapeutic environment, boundaried and respectful, and our work will include exercises and techniques you can continue with outside of our weekly sessions. I understand that many of us are very hard on ourselves, and in response, my style is relaxed and positive, emphasizing attainable goals, encouraging long-term integration and process over any sort of quick fix. You will find me to be both creative and collaborative, preferring to focus on the whole person, zooming out the lens to include your entire way of being, allowing for greater awareness of your unique strengths, helping each client find their own way to best meet the restrictions or resistance they currently experience.

I have a Master's degree in Counseling from Regis University (MA, LPCC, NCC), and I have studied with the Animas Institute in Durango, Colorado, as well as the Somatic Experiencing Trauma Institute. I am also certified in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy by the Colorado School of Energy (CST). My psychotherapy practice emphasizes both narrative and somatic approaches, always coming from a place of compassion, acceptance and curiosity, continuously evaluating the therapeutic process and utilizing feedback to make sure it works best for you. I have additional professional experience in wilderness guiding, environmental conservation, and the creative arts. I was born and raised in the UK, have explored and lived in many different places around the world, and have been a resident of Denver for almost twenty years.

  • This is my beloved Therapy-Dog-In-Training. She works with clients who choose to benefit from her emotional and physical presence during sessions. Like me, Chewie does not judge... she accepts people for who they are and she meets them 'where they're at' with a lot of kindness. Another thing we have in common is that Chewie loves the mountains and the desert and she has a playful sense of adventure. We're basically kindred spirits. Oh, and she's 100% the best co-pilot in the galaxy :)

Words cannot express how grateful I am for the invaluable guidance and support Chris has provided me during some of the most challenging times of my life.
